1. A customer or receiver of services.
2. (computing) The role of a computer application or system that requests and/or consumes the services provided by another having the role of server.

Respectfully, Paulo, I'm not sure I understand your comment here. If I'm "a customer or receiver of services" that include the service of coaching from my coach, how am I not a client?

Also, unless I'm missing your point, it seems that implying that one is *either* a client or an athlete is a false dichotomy--why can't I be an athlete *and* a client?

McCrory,

His commentary is on the attitude of "coaches", not the semantics of what the person paying for services considers himeslf.

This remark tells all "whores...have clients."

I believe that I was PS' first North American client, and am quite certain that I was his first Canuck.

I've never been so proud...
